I've been mulling the idea of a Mentorship program for the Guild as a means of allowing us to recruit new or close to mature players who may not necessarily be able to produce the min. 100K we typically require.
If a member can commit to covering a deficit for a BS or two, and we gain a potential rising star as a result, then what might be the harm?
Of course, we can and should continue to seek out those who can already meet the minimum, but as one of our other members remarked, maybe this program will also help inject a bit of that old passion into the game for those long in the tooth players needing something to maintain their interest.
The conditions for allowing a mentored member to stay are of course demonstrated growth and the ability of the sponsoring Guild member to maintain their pledge.
While I suspect not maintaining a pledge won't be a problem, if it were to become a recurring issue, we would certainly want to look at corrective measures for the member in question. But will only cross that bridge if we come to it.
Perhaps we can use Northern Panther - one of the latest to ask to join - as a test case. Perhaps one of his past Canadian Guild members willing to take him on?

I would be willing to mentor after next BS. I am very busy this month. I am typically a very active member and active in chat. I can easily make up the points difference. My only stipulation would be that they are from a similar time zone. I am in central and typically spend most of my time playing in the evening after the little one is in bed.

So, just so I understand, to be a mentor you need to cover the extra that the Pledge needs to fill up to the 100k line... plus some percentage points to make up the penalty of a slightly larger guild? Based on the way we've been scoring, and I'd have to check the numbers, it seems like a non-issue to me. Parrot or RG or similar could mentor a half dozen accounts each that do nothing. Unless there is an expectation that the mentor retains their average... or perhaps last score +/- 10%?

I'd definitely recommend the person you choose to mentor be someone you can mentor - entirely each member's decision to do so or not and choosing similar time zones makes perfect sense.
I have to remember we have a real number cruncher in the Guild - for which I am entirely grateful! But should have realized my playing fast and loose with a numeral would get me in trouble with Ty!
I like the idea of 10% margin should it ever need to be measured to that degree. And I'd also limit one mentor per member. Certainly anyone in the millionaire club could conceivably mentor 10 non-performers but that clearly wouldn't be acceptable. I think allowing for only one at a time would help create the right incentive for both to see regular growth take place.
This may not become a wide-spread practice and expect not everyone is interested. And also shouldn't take away from our focus on recruiting members who can already meet the minimum.
But if a member did know of someone who showed the right spirit and wants to welcome them in under their wing, then this seems a reasonable way to accommodate them.

So I take a pledge, how long do we keep them in the guild before they're punted if not progressing. Two bs? Three? More? Is it based on the pledges level? If they fail to progress does that reflect on the mentor?
Does one successful bs remove the pledge designation? What if they slip after that?
Example, schwabbinder put up huge points at lower levels but is struggling right now as he grows to 70 (he kept his level down for a long time).
Because id almost be inclined to start another account into the guild just to let it grow. Though I personally don't have the time to care about that, I think others would.
